1.1 Chief Executive's introduction to the plan

The presence of a business plan is, of course, crucial to the prosperity and longevity of any organisation. UCAS is no exception to this rule, so it is with great pleasure that I introduce the Company's Corporate Business Plan for 2007-2010.

Building on recent changes and successes, the Plan provides a framework for the future shape and direction of the Company. UCAS' vision ('to be the world's most respected admissions organisation') is expanded to describe the look and feel of the Company as it moves into the future, with further amplification being provided via the Company's values, behaviours and mission statement.

Strong reference is made to UCAS' business environment and to the assumptions underpinning the development of the Plan's strategic aims and objectives. These are designed to ensure the realisation of the Company's vision and mission and, in a new addition to the 2007-2010 Plan, are supported by a series of measures of achievement. Further sections of the Plan provide background information about the Company.

I trust colleagues and stakeholders alike will find the Plan informative and use it as a point of reference to underpin their work for, or interaction with, the Company.
