How we work

"The things I like about working here are that we always feel involved and there is a great team spirit to do a great job."

Steve, Digital Services

We appreciate that our success and longevity can, ultimately, only be achieved through our staff. For this reason we ensure that staff are well-treated, encouraged to develop and progress and are appropriately rewarded for their contribution. These aims are achieved via the adoption of good human resource management practice and a number of initiatives, the combined effect of which has been recognised by our Investor in People (IIP) status. We have a relatively flat management structure and encourage an approachable and flexible management style.

Performance and learning management

We encourage continuous improvement and development and have a performance management process which allows us to assess your training requirements. Any training that is essential for the completion of your role will be paid for and there is also provision for you to undertake developmental training where budget and business needs allow. You can also request up to £100 in any one year (budget allowing) to pay towards training or learning activities that are not work related through our EDAP scheme (Employee Development Assistance Programme).

Staff Council represents your views

Our Staff Council acts as an essential channel for communication and consultation across the company. The council is fully representative of all staff and is recognised formally by the company as the body that is consulted about any change affecting the staff on issues such as pay, grading, working practices, health and safety, pensions and restructuring.

Social Committee organises staff events

Our Social Committee organises various events throughout the year, including charity days, drinks parties, day trips etc.
