Changes to offers
An offer of a place takes into account the courses and examinations listed in an application. If applicants change their course or examination arrangements, the universities or colleges concerned are entitled to amend their decisions.
Applicants must send details of any changes (to the course, subject, level, centre or examination board) to the universities and colleges at which they are holding offers and to us.
Changes to the applicant's details
It is important that applicants let us and the universities and colleges know of any changes to their details, particularly their address. This avoids unnecessary delays in confirming their place.
They can amend their address, telephone number and email details by logging on to Track.
If applicants are using their school address during term-time, they must remember to tell us when they want any letters to go to their home or summer address.
Adding more choices
If an applicant originally applied to fewer than five choices, they can add more choices provided they have not accepted or declined any offers. They can add any further choices on Track until 30 June 2008 (12 June 2008 for Route B art and design applications).
Changes to choices
Applicants can change a university or college choice on Track within 14 days from us sending their welcome letter. They cannot normally change their university or college after 14 days. If there are exceptional reasons, such as a change in family circumstances or any personal problems, they should ask their referee to write to us, explaining the situation and recommending the change. The referee should include details of the proposed change(s) in the letter.
If an applicant is happy with the choice of university or college but wants to change the course details, such as the course code, year or point of entry, they should write to the university or college direct. If the university or college agrees, they will tell us about the change.
Changes to art and design applications
Route A choices: students can change the university or college choice on Track within 14 days from us sending them a welcome letter, as long as they contact us before 30 June 2008. If they want to change the course, defer their application for a year or change the point of entry, they should write to the college or university direct, not to us. A Route A choice can only be changed to another Route A choice.
Route B choices: a Route B choice can only be changed to another Route B choice. This is only possible if the original choice has not been sent to the university or college to consider. A Route B choice cannot be amended to a Route A choice at any time.
Accident, illness or personal problems
If an applicant suffers an accident, illness or a personal problem that could affect their results, they should write to each university or college that is considering their application to explain. Please include a supporting letter from their school or other authority and, in medical cases, from their doctor. Details should be sent as soon as possible after the problem has arisen. Do not wait until their exam results arrive.

Withdrawal
Applicants can withdraw their application at any time by going to Track or by phoning our Customer Service Unit. If they withdraw, they cannot submit another application during this academic year and cannot go through Clearing. If they have withdrawn from the scheme but, for exceptional reasons, wish to re-enter it, they should write to us with full details and ask for advice.
