The procedures and policies for deciding which applicants to accept are the responsibility of your institution. Although decisions must be communicated to the applicant through us, arrangements to interview applicants or invite them to visit days and open days are made by you directly with them.
Applicants are instructed to list all examinations taken and qualifications achieved as well as those still to be taken or achieved, so that you have as full a picture as possible when making a decision.
Open days may or may not form part of the selection process. If they do, you should ensure that they are arranged before the decision is sent to us.
Our annual publications - the Admissions Guide and the Decision Processing Manual - are available in the admissions guides section of this website, for those who are involved in sending decisions about individual applications to us.
A new independent programme, Supporting Professionalism in Admissions (SPA), has been established to act as a resource for admissions staff and to review and share good practice in admissions and student recruitment. This is funded by the UK funding councils and supported by UUK, SCOP and others. For information please contact the SPA team at enquiries@spa.ac.uk.
We offer staff development workshops (fees charged) on changes to pre-HE qualifications (please contact ucaswiderpicture@ucas.ac.uk) and a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme specifically designed for all student recruitment and admissions staff to build on their knowledge and expertise in an ever-changing professional environment (please contact cpd@ucas.ac.uk).
