UCAS produces an annual paper which provides data on applicants with an access course qualification (including both Access to HE courses and other 'access' courses). The paper includes information about acceptance of applicants to higher education courses, the age and gender of applicants, their ethnic origin and socio-economic status.
A team from the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) has analysed data supplied by UCAS, HESA and LSC, to investigate the progression pathways of full-time students through higher education. As part of its work, the team looked at a range of entry qualifications (including Access to Higher Education) and entry routes. The report can be downloaded from the HEFCE website.
QAA produces an annual bulletin (Key Statistics) with information about Access to HE courses, students and their completion and progression to HE, gathered from a range of sources. QAA also produces a more detailed statistical report (the Joint Agency Statistical Report on Access to HE), including data received from AVAs and a number of other national agencies, including the Learning and Skills Council, UCAS and the Higher Education Statistics Agency. Copies of both publications are available from the QAA website.
