If your son or daughter is planning to attend a university or college that charges the maximum tuition fees a year for their course, and they are eligible to receive the full Maintenance Grant which can be up to around £2,906, the institution will have to provide them with at least £319 a year.
This all takes the form of a non-repayable bursary or some other type of financial help. The type and amount of financial help will depend on the university or college concerned. Some students will get more than this, as many universities and colleges offer financial help worth more than £319.
Use Course Search to find out about specific bursaries available for particular courses or contact universities and colleges direct. Most universities and colleges offer much larger bursaries for low-income families.
