I am a disabled student. Where can I get advice before I apply?

All universities and colleges try to offer equal opportunities and will support students with any disabilities. They are happy to answer any queries you have, so please contact them direct to find out more.

Skill is a national organisation which promotes opportunities for students with any kind of disability. You can call them free on 0800 328 5050 (information service) or 0800 068 2422 (minicom). Their website, www.skill.org.uk, provides useful information and links to other relevant sites.

Other useful websites include the Royal National Institute for the Blind, and the Royal National Institute for the Deaf.

Trotman publish, Disabled Students Guide to University 2005, which details academic and cultural provision at each university for disabled students, plus information on facilities and the local area. It also includes case studies and contact details for universities. The publication (priced £21.99) is available from our online bookstore.
