Scottish National Certificates
Scottish National Certificates aim to develop a range of knowledge and skills (including core and transferable skills) as well as specialist knowledge and skills in a specific occupational area. Scottish National Certificate (NCs) qualifications accredited at level 6 of the Scottish and Credit Qualification Framework attract Tariff points.
Scottish NC Level 6 qualifications may consist of a mixture of level 4, 5, 6, 7 and unlevelled units as long as a minimum of 50% of the 12 units are at level 6. The exact combination of units taken to make up the level 6 qualification, and their level, largely depend upon the structure of the qualification but can be affected by the choices made by a candidate.
UCAS have categorised Scottish NCs according to the minimum amount of attainment that must be at Level 6 to achieve the overall qualification and UCAS Tariff Points allocated by category.
The Expert Panel considered these qualifications in April 2008.
The Expert Group report will be available soon.
