UCAS shortlisted for business continuity award

22 April 2008

UCAS has been shortlisted for a business continuity award by Continuity Insurance and Risk magazine.

The company, based in Cheltenham, is being considered in the "Most Effective recovery of the Year" category following the floods and ensuing water shortage affecting Gloucestershire in July 2007.

Paul Featonby, UCAS Director of Digital Services said: "We are delighted to have been shortlisted for this award. Our staff worked very hard in the summer to ensure that UCAS could maintain its core operations as the busy exam results season was underway. We put our recovery and business continuity plans in place quite early and this paid off as we were able to maintain our service for our customers throughout the crisis".

By chance UCAS had carried out an exercise just days before the July floods hit the county as part of its continual programme of disaster recovery and business continuity planning.

UCAS is up against Glasgow Airport, AZ Electronic Materials, Fortis insurance and Irwin Mitchell Solicitors for the award.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony at London's Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane on Thursday 8 May.
