Secondary tabs

Please note this is a Virtual Event. What a year. From COVID-19 causing a global pandemic to the horrific death of George Floyd bringing a new focus to the Black Lives Matter campaign to lockdown after lockdown, what have we learned and how will we thrive in the ‘new normal?’ How do we have uncomfortable but imperative conversations to unpack, explore and navigate the ever more divisive world we find ourselves in? Our very special guests will be discussing these topics while taking any questions you have been wanting to ask, but too scared of offending to speak out loud.
Tue 8 December 2020 - 18:00 to 19:20

Our Guests

Gavin Edwards

Gavin Edwards is the New York Times-bestselling author of twelve books, most recently ‘Kindness and Wonder: Why Mister Rogers Matters Now More Than Ever’. He has written a dozen cover stories for Rolling Stone, on subjects ranging from Darth Vader to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and has written for many other publications over his thirty-year career, including Details, Spin, Billboard, GQ, Wired, The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, and The Washington Post. In the name of journalism, he has entered a demolition derby, participated in the world’s largest tomato fight, and taken a city bus to the Grammys.

“Gavin’s the best writer ever,” said Mark Hoppus of Blink-182. “Shakespeare’s an asshole next to this guy.” His books, which include The Tao of Bill Murray: Real-Life Stories of Joy, Enlightenment, and Party Crashing and Last Night at the Viper Room: River Phoenix and the Hollywood He Left Behind, have been translated into Spanish, German, Italian, Russian, and Hungarian.

Lady Sanity

Birmingham emcee Lady Sanity has been steadily building a strong reputation for her hard-hitting flow and blend of grime, ‘90s hip hop and jazz influences.

With a 2017 GRM Daily Get Rated Award under her belt, performing at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia along with two Birmingham Music Awards for Best Solo Female Artist 2018 & 2019 respectively Lady Sanity’s place in the UK music scene is fast ascending having been selected by BBC Introducing WM as a One to Watch for 2020 with support from BBC Radio 1 at the start of this year.

Free-flowing conscious lyricism whilst standing up to claiming a right to honest artistic expression are just some of the many reasons Lady Sanity should be on your radar for 2020 and beyond!
