Geography & Environment: Building resilience against earthquakes in Bhutan (virtual session)
Thu 30 March 2023 - 17:00 to 17:45

The recent earthquake in Turkey and Syria is a stark reminder of how devastating and unpredictable such disasters can be. In the latest of our monthly interactive online taster lectures, Dr Frances Harris discusses her research in the remote Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan where, following a major earthquake in nearby Nepal in 2014, efforts are being made to build resilience to these catastrophic events.

Illustrated with spectacular field photographs, come and learn how Bhutan’s unique culture and geography shape their approach to disaster preparedness and response
