What will you do in the climate emergency? Launch of Roehampton Climate Network University of Roehampton, Online 18:00 - 19:30
Thu 22 April 2021 - 18:00 to 19:00

This Earth Day, University of Roehampton is delighted to launch its Climate Network. Led by four professors from very different disciplines, the Network aims to highlight the threats we face and the innovative solutions being developed across the university. We can only solve this problem together, and together means learning from each other’s disciplines as well as sharing insights and inspiration.

Join us for 1-hour moderated discussion between Professor Scott Cato, Professor Anne Robertson, Professor Shelley Trower and Professor Jérémie Gilbert. Following the discussion, there will be an opportunity for questions from the audience.

Humanity is facing an existential crisis as a result of ongoing environmental damage and destruction.. One of the most urgent manifestations of this crisis is in the climate emergency, an issue that is now at the forefront of policy-making across the world. The House of Commons’ Climate Assembly indicates that the public is ahead of government on the sort of action they want to see, with 90% supporting better investment in public transport and 80% calling for higher taxes on aviation.

What can we do as an academic community to be part of the solution? By coming together, sharing our knowledge and insights, and committing to positive action for change, we hope to inform people about the nature of the crisis we’re in and join them in finding ways to a more positive future.
