Course summary

The overall aim of this course is to ensure graduates have a comprehensive engineering education combined with specialist knowledge of aerospace engineering recognised in the professional engineering community by an accredited degree. The first year of study is very much about mastering the underpinning engineering principles, accompanied by an introduction to airframes and aircraft propulsion, engine testing and design. Year two combines mechanical engineering topics, for example thermodynamics and the role of the engineer in society, with specialist topics that include control and aircraft systems, and airflow anaysis and simulation. The third year of study includes topics related to supersonic and subsonic aerodynamics, energy and sustainability and new and advanced engineering materials.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) - MMP

in an Engineering subject to include Mathematics

Access to HE Diploma

Access to HE Diploma (60 credits) of which a minimum of 45 must be at Level 3 (80 UCAS point equivalence) in a Engineering subject to include Mathematics.

Pearson BTEC Diploma (QCF) - DM

in an Engineering subject to include Mathematics

GCSE/National 4/National 5

GCSE English and Mathematics at grade 4 / C or above or an acceptable equivalent.

OCR Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma - MMP

in an Engineering subject to include Mathematics

T Level - Pass (C and above)

in an Engineering subject: Design Development Engineering, Maintenance, Installation and repair for Engineering Engineering, Manufacturing, Processing and Control

Students must have studied a minimum of two years post GCSE level. However, it is expected that some applicants will be mature students with work experience, who wish to further their career development.
