Course summary

Transform Your Future with the HND in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

At University Centre Grimsby, this Higher National Diploma goes beyond theory; it equips you with the advanced technical and professional skills employers are looking for. You’ll master electrical systems, embedded programming, power electronics, and industrial automation, while also developing leadership and project management expertise that sets you apart in the workplace.

The Level 5 units prepare students to move on to specific areas of electrical and electronic engineering at Level 6 or to enter employment with the qualities and abilities necessary for roles that require personal responsibility and decision-making. Students will be able to develop and apply their own ideas to their studies, to deal with uncertainty and complexity, to explore solutions, demonstrate critical evaluation and use both theory and practice in a wide range of engineering situations. By the end of Level 5 study, students will have a sound understanding of the principles in their area of specialist study and will know how to apply those principles more widely in the industry. They will be able to perform effectively in their specialist area.

This qualification is your gateway to high-demand industries such as renewable energy, advanced manufacturing, and petrochemicals, where innovation and reliability are critical. With its strong employer focus and practical learning, the HND is not just a course; it’s a launchpad for career progression and further study, opening doors to top-up degrees and professional registration.
