Why Games Art (with placement)?
Our Games Art degree gives you the skills to design stunning characters and immersive worlds for computer games, turning your creative ideas into reality in a thriving industry. You’ll develop essential skills in 3D modelling, digital sculpting, interface design, character art and more.
You’ll gain valuable experience and industry contacts through live briefs, game jams, exhibitions and trips to conferences in the UK and overseas (additional costs may apply – see course webpage). Previous students have completed placements with companies including Neon Play, Sumo Digital, Team17 and Unity Technologies.
Working independently and collaboratively with students across our games courses, you’ll learn from lecturers with industry experience on projects for Sony, Adidas, Intel, Crytek, 2K Sports, Rebellion, Eutechnyx and Headstrong Games. You’ll study in purpose-built labs using industry-standard software including 3ds Max, ZBrush, Substance Tools, Adobe CC, Unity and Unreal.
As a PlayStation First partner, we also provide access to professional PlayStation development hardware used by game studios. By the end of your degree, you’ll have built a strong portfolio of artwork, playable games and prototypes to support your future career.
Why a placement year?
Your 4th year would be a placement year - an opportunity to get ahead of the competition with a professional placement in industry.
