Course summary

On this degree, you study a variety of texts written in English alongside the culture of the classical world and will explore the connections between the two. You will learn about the worlds of ancient Greece and Rome from a variety of perspectives, and uncover their legacy in our culture and the way we think today. You can also learn a classical language - we offer Greek and Latin from beginners' or advanced level.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)

Applicants will be considered on an individual basis

Access to HE Diploma - D: 30 credits M: 15 credits P: 0 credits

15 Level 3 credits in English literature/literature and language, or other arts and humanities subjects involving significant literary content, are essential. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a genuine interest in study of the classical world; Level 3 Units in classics or history are desirable.

Scottish Higher - AAABB

including English or including evidence of readiness to begin university-level study in literature (such as other arts and humanities subjects). Combinations of Highers and Advanced Highers accepted. Scottish qualifications can be taken in more than one sitting.

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 34 points

with English grade 6 at Higher Level or including evidence of readiness to begin university-level study in literature (such as HLs in other arts and humanities subjects).

Leaving Certificate - Higher Level (Ireland) (first awarded in 2017) - H1, H1, H1, H2, H3
