Course summary

Our BSc (Hons) Finance degree will equip you with the foundational theory and practice of modern finance, with an emphasis on the growing importance of sustainability, financial technology and ethical decision-making in today’s global economy.

Through a combination of teamwork, communication and commercial awareness, you will build the skills and knowledge required for a successful career in finance, demonstrating ethical judgement, strategic thinking and creative problem-solving.

Addressing global challenges through our teaching, you will explore the social, ethical and global context in which finance operates, with a strong focus on sustainable finance and responsible investment, alongside the integration of finance within wider business.

Through hands-on experience with financial data platforms, exposure to live financial briefs and simulations, and the use of professional tools in our state-of-the-art Finance Lab, you will gain the skills, experience and confidence to begin an exciting career in finance.

Our Year in Industry, Year Abroad and Foundation Year course options give you the opportunity to tailor your study experience to your needs and career ambitions.

Modules

Course Modules

Typically your first year of study is made up of compulsory modules, ensuring a solid foundation in core disciplines. Compulsory modules are studied by all students on the programme, meaning you are automatically enrolled. Examples of compulsory modules include:

• Foundations of Finance
• Foundations of Financial Accounting
• Economics for Accounting and Finance

Your second and third years will comprise of a mixture of compulsory and optional modules, which you can pick according to your chosen career. Examples of 2nd and 3rd year modules in recent years have included:

• Investments: Assets Equities and Bonds
• Project Management
• Asset Management

This qualification can be used in conjunction with 2 A levels or A level equivalent qualifications.

GCSEs: Minimum of Grade C in Mathematics; and in English or Welsh Language.

English language requirements

The Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales is considered as equivalent to one full A-Level and students can take x2 A-levels alongside this. EPQ students predicted Grade B or above will receive a one-grade offer reduction.
