University of EssexChildhood StudiesGrowing up, I was privileged enough to only be surrounded by a lot of children within my family but also witness what children go through in the society, the mischief that they can get into and the social rejection that they might face. This made me develop an interest in children’s rights and their welfare. I have learnt more about social justice and child protection while studying at the university of Essex. My career goal is to work in the field of community development especially for the protection of children and creating safe environments for them as well as addressing the causes of criminal activities from a young age. I love reading and this has always been a way of keeping me informed as well as how I can be motivated to find new ways to solve different issues. I am interesting, I promise 😁. Henry
University of SuffolkBA (Hons) ChildhoodHello 👋 my name is Henry. I’m in my third year here at Uni of Suffolk. I'm studying on the childhood degree program. Before coming to university I was rather overwhelmed as the prospect of student life after working as a teaching assistant for 6 years. So far I’m loving being at university, much more than I expected! The support at UOS is fanstiac and no question is a silly one. Please feel free to ask any questions, I look forward to chatting with you.

Supporting students with mental health conditions
Students can access a variety of support to manage their mental health and wellbeing in higher education - ranging from help with a specific condition through to ways they can look after their general wellbeing. Some students may be hesitant to tell their university, so we've worked with experts (including Student Minds and the University Mental Health Advisers' Network (UMHAN)) to explain the process of declaration to your students, and offer practical ways to help them manage the transition to independence. It's good to remember that other personal circumstances can create additional challenges and stress, so making sure students have the right support for their needs will offer them the best start to university.
