Leeds Conservatoire sits in the heart of the Cultural Quarter. Surrounded by theatres, dance companies, and music venues, students can benefit from the city’s thriving cultural scene.

Life at Leeds Conservatoire

Hear from our students first-hand about studying at Leeds Conservatoire, the unique music and performing arts community and our creative, collaborative environment.

What makes us different

Leeds Conservatoire prides itself in making arts education accessible for all. It was the first UK conservatoire to remove audition fees to ensure that no talented students are excluded from attending an audition because of their financial position.

The Conservatoire’s strength comes from the diverse breadth of specialism and forward-focused bold programming, helping students to succeed.

Within a supportive and inclusive environment, students are encouraged to challenge themselves and take risks exploring their artistic identities while talent and independence are nurtured.

The Conservatoire was the first in the UK to offer Music Production and Music Business degrees alongside performance-based courses, so all aspects of the music industry - on and off stage – are covered as part of the learning experience. This helps students stand out from the graduate crowd by gaining transferrable industry skills alongside industry experience, exposure and contacts.

The training here is absolutely fantastic and I’ve seen so much improvement in myself since coming to study here. The tutors are amazing – they are all active in the industry and they know what we need to be successful in this world – being able to learn from their expertise has helped me progress my skills so much.
