About us

LSTM is a centre of excellence in research and postgraduate teaching in the field of tropical medicine. It is the oldest institution of its kind in the world and has been at the forefront of training leaders in global health since 1898. As we move towards our 125th anniversary in 2023, we will continue to focus on providing high quality scientific evidence and translating our scientific discovery into policies and practices. We do that by working collaboratively in over 70 countries to fulfil our mission of improving the health of the world’s poorest people.

    I previously studied A levels: business, biology and BTEC sport at sixth form. I am currently studying sport and exercise science and am 2nd year. After graduating I am thinking about either studying a masters in Physiotherapy or perhaps joining the police. I am part of the University ladies 1’s hockey team and play games on Wednesdays. I also go to the University gym on a regular basis. I’m here to help and happy to answer any questions you may have!

    I’m a second year student midwife, I am a mother to 2 young boys. I completed the Access course to gain the qualifications for Midwifery. Midwifery is everything I’ve wanted to do and my favourite part of the course is placement, as it is so rewarding

My mum is from Portugal and my dad is from Pakistan - but I can only speak English. I am the eldest daughter in a family of 8 and I am the first person in my family to go to university. With my degree from this course I am hoping to have a job in a pharmacy or in a lab with the NHS.
