Alan Jones joined the UCAS Professional Development Team in November 2006, having previously spent six years working as an adviser, a team coordinator, and then as a quality coordinator in the UCAS Customer Experience Centre. His ongoing professional engagements and contact with a wide range of customers from both the pre-HE and HE sectors ensure that his finger remains on the customer pulse. Alan was the first member of his family to go to university, and having ‘got it all wrong’ as a teenager (dropping out of a place he secured at a Russell Group university), he re-engaged with HE as a return/mature student and was awarded a first class honours degree from the University of Kent in 1999. Alan also holds a Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) certificate in training practice, is a published author and poet, and is a keen supporter of the National Horror Festival of Wales, held each year at the university Arts Centre in Aberystwyth.
