Reviewing UCAS’ admissions principles to avoid bypassing – facilitated discussion

Tuesday 9 April 2019 14:35 - 15:25
Discussion – completely interactive
Intermediate to Advanced (closed session - only available to event delegates)

Summary

The current UCAS admissions principles state that a provider must recruit all its full-time undergraduate applicants (with a small number of exceptions) through UCAS.

This discussion session will provide an opportunity to share your views and thoughts with colleagues from across the sector, on when and why adhering to this principle might become a challenge, and explore the impact of bypassing.

UCAS is keen to follow up the recent work on the business rules and admissions principles, and in doing so, would like the sector to debate this issue so the Undergraduate Advisory Group can advise UCAS on the implementation of the recommendations. This session will be facilitated by members of the Undergraduate Advisory Group, will run to Chatham House rules, and there will be no UCAS presence or notes taken.

Learning outcomes:

  • Understand the importance of UCAS’ business rules, and how providers create processes to support them.
  • Observe and reflect on other providers’ challenges to operating within the business rules.
  • Contribute to the future development of the UCAS Undergraduate scheme, to support all customers.
