Presentation-information giving, with time for questions
Open to all

Summary

Within the context of the need for a coherent full lifecycle approach to student access, success, and progression, this session will discuss the potential for collaborative working within universities and colleges to manage student transition.

Developing a sense of belonging is central to a student’s journey from applicant to student. The session will look at how this can be embedded across systems, processes, and initiatives, discussing examples of cross-team working from the University of Bath, including approaches to mitigating circumstances for undergraduate applicants, pre-arrival and transition, digital and in-person interventions, and new resource for inclusive curriculum.

Learning outcomes

Delegates will be able to:

  • reflect on opportunities for collaborative working on student transition, including in their own provider context.
  • understand the University of Bath’s approach to transition, drawing on examples from admissions, student support, and learning and teaching practice
  • explore the ‘Lizzio & Wilson Five Senses of Success’ models, focused on building an academic culture which develops the student’s sense of connection, capability, purpose, and resourcefulness
