David is Director of the Centre for Innovation in Learning and Teaching at SOAS, University of London. Founded in 1916, and with a student population on campus of around 5,000, SOAS is the only higher education institution in Europe specialising in the study of Asia, Africa, and the Near and Middle East.

David joined SOAS in February, having previously been Head of Learning and Teaching Innovation, and Principal Lecturer in Religion, Philosophy, and Ethics, at the University of Gloucestershire. He has research interests in Buddhist philosophy, new religious movements, and social media, as well as being involved in work on the changing nature of higher education.
