How do I supply information for a QIP?

Information can be provided through our web form.

You will be asked to provide the following:

  • Qualification title.
  • QAN (if applicable).
  • Purpose/aims of the qualification.
  • Grading and assessment information.
  • Information pertinent to higher education (anything else about the qualification you feel providers might benefit from knowing to help them understand the qualification).

You can submit a web form at any time of the year, and we'll notify you when the updated QIP(s) has been published.

Please contact qualsinfo@ucas.ac.uk if you have any questions.

Do I have to provide information for all my qualifications?

No. You can supply UCAS with information for as many or as few qualifications as you wish, although we would urge you to provide details for any qualification where a significant percentage of the cohort tend to progress to higher education.

To make this process as smooth as possible, our QIPs template has been redesigned to contain fewer fields – those which higher education providers consider most valuable when making decisions.

Why are Qualification Information Profiles (QIPs) important?

QIPs are often used in conjunction with the UCAS Tariff tables to enable higher education providers to gain a better understanding of the qualifications they see on student applications. QIPs contain information pertinent to higher education providers, enabling them to make more informed decisions about a qualification, and therefore, fairer offers to students.

It is important that the information contained in the QIPs is accurate and up-to-date. As a qualification owner, UCAS requests you review your QIPs content on an annual basis and let us know if anything needs updating.

Please note, we only publish QIPs for Level 3/SCQF Level 6 qualifications.
