Dimitri Nicolaou

Biography

Dr Nicolaou has a BSc (Hons) in Aeronautical Engineering (1983) and a PhD in Engineering (1987)
from the University of Manchester. He subsequently worked as a Research Associate in the Department of Engineering at the University of Manchester, with a focus on internal wave modelling, before joining the University of Liverpool as a lecturer in 1992, where he taught a range of subjects related to aerospace and mechanical engineering. Dr Nicolaou also worked at the University of Liverpool for fifteen years as a lecturer and, later, as Admissions and Academic Sub-Dean for the Faculty of Engineering.

Dr Nicolaou joined Teesside University as Assistant Dean in the School of Science and Engineering in August 2008, later becoming Associate Dean for the School of Science, Engineering, and Design in 2017. His portfolio includes marketing, student recruitment, academic partnerships, academic portfolio development, and higher and degree apprenticeships.

Since 2017, Dr Nicolaou has managed the successful development of higher and degree apprenticeship programmes in science and engineering subjects. Working in partnership with employers, the School of Science, Engineering, and Design is a leading provider of degree apprenticeship programmes in science and engineering, with six degree apprenticeship programmes available in 2017, increasing to over ten in 2018.
