Michelle Magee

Assistant Director (Admissions), Canterbury Christ Church University

Biography

Michelle is Assistant Director (Admissions) at Canterbury Christ University, where she is responsible for admissions and UKVI compliance. At CCCU, Michelle is leading on the implementation of the admissions work stream for the new Student Records System, and is working with colleagues across CCCU and the University of Kent on establishment of the Kent and Medway Medical School.

Previously, Michelle worked at the University of Westminster from 2002 – 2018. The university has around 20,000 students from over 150 different nations, making it the most internationally diverse university in the UK.

In her role as Senior Admissions Manager, Michelle led the teams responsible for admissions compliance and development. She was responsible for three main areas of work – the design and management of admissions processes with a strong focus on a high quality applicant experience, the planning and management of the university’s Clearing service involving over 120 students, academics and professional support staff who provide telephone, email and social media support to applicants on A level results day, and Home Office UK Visa and Immigration (UKVI) compliance processes for applicants and students.

Michelle is currently a member of the SITS Tribal Admissions User Group and was also a part of the Delivery Partnership’s Entry Profiles Working Group. She has been a member of the UCAS Postgraduate Advisory Group since it was first established in 2014.

Michelle graduated from the University of Sheffield with a degree in American studies, where she spent a year studying at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, and has a master’s degree in contemporary and modern literature from Birkbeck College.
