This online chemistry taster event includes a live lecture from one of our inspirational research academics. Dr Maria Alfredsson will Introduce the concept of quantization of energy levels and show that light is both a particle and wave. This can be proven by determining colours of small organic molecules using UV-VIS spectroscopy. However, using theoretical models, such as the “particle in a box” we can predict the colours of the molecules. At the end of the lecture Dr Alfredsson will be joined by a current student and you will get the chance to ask questions about the course and life at Kent.
