Rise in rate of 18 year olds applying for UK higher education
The demand for higher education from 18 year olds across the UK remains strong, according to figures published today, Monday 5 February 2018, by UCAS.

424,000 students placed in UK higher education as of midnight – up 3% on last year.
Over 28,000 Scottish applicants placed in higher education through UCAS; up 5% on results day last year
As of midnight, 28,300 Scottish applicants have been accepted to higher education so far this year; an increase of 1,300 people, up 5% compared to SQA results day in 2015. Almost all of these (27,400) have been placed at a Scottish university or college.
Over 409,000 students already placed in UK higher education – up 3% on 2014
Over 409,000 students know they are accepted to UK universities and colleges as of today – up 3% against A level results day in 2014.
