Be prepared when it comes to the deadlines

There are different dates that applicants should be aware of when applying and waiting for decisions from their chosen universities and colleges.

Timetable for 2011 applications

Mid-September 2010	Applications can be sent to us from mid-September.
15 October 2010	Application deadline for the receipt at UCAS of applications for all medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine and veterinary science courses and for all courses at the universities of Oxford and Cambridge.
15 January 2011	Application deadline for the receipt at UCAS of applications for all courses except those listed above with a 15 October deadline, and art and design courses with a 24 March deadline. Go to Course Search to check application deadlines for courses.
25 February 2011	If an applicant is eligible to use Extra, they can refer themselves to another choice. More about Extra
24 March 2011	Application deadline for the receipt at UCAS of applications for art and design courses except those listed with a 15 January deadline. Go to Course Search to check application deadlines for courses.
31 March 2011	If we receive an application by 15 January, the universities and colleges should aim to have sent us their decisions by this date (but they can take longer).
5 May 2011	If we receive all decisions from their universities/colleges by 31 March, the applicant needs to reply to any offers by this date (unless they live outside the EU or are applying through Extra). If we don't receive their replies, we will decline the offers on their behalf.
6 May 2011	If an applicant applied by 15 January, universities and colleges need to send their decisions by this date. If they don't, we will make any outstanding choices unsuccessful on their behalf.
7 June 2011	If we receive all decisions from their universities/colleges by 6 May, the applicant needs to reply to any offers by this date (unless they are applying through Extra). If we don't receive their replies, we will decline the offers on their behalf.
30 June 2011	If an applicant sends their application to us by this date, we will send it to their chosen universities and colleges. If we receive their application after this date, it will be entered into Clearing. More about Clearing If we receive all decisions from their universities/colleges by 10 June, the applicant needs to reply to any offers by this date (unless they are applying through Extra). If we don't receive their replies, we will decline the offers on their behalf.
6 July 2011	This is the last date to apply through Extra.
19 July 2011	If an applicant applied by 30 June and is waiting for decisions, universities and colleges need to send us their decisions by this date. If they don't, we will make any outstanding choices unsuccessful on their behalf.
26 July 2011	If we receive all decisions from their universities/colleges by 19 July, the applicant needs to reply to any offers by this date (this includes if they are applying through Extra). If we don't receive their replies, we will decline the offers on their behalf.
Date to be confirmed	SQA results are published and the Scottish Clearing vacancy information service starts. More about Clearing
18 August 2011	GCE and Advanced Diploma results are published and the full Clearing vacancy information service starts. More about Clearing Adjustment opens for registration. More about Adjustment
31 August 2011	Adjustment closes on this date.
20 September 2011	This is the last date that we will accept applications for courses starting in 2011.
30 September 2011	The Clearing vacancy search is closed after this date. Applicants should contact universities direct to discuss vacancies. Clearing choices can still be added in Track.
24 October 2011	This is the last date to add a Clearing choice. This is also the last date a university or college can accept an applicant in Clearing.

Timetable for 2010 applications

Change for 2010 entry: The 15 January deadline was extended to 22 January. All other dates remain unaffected.

7 May 2010	If an applicant applied by 15 January, universities and colleges need to send their decisions by this date. If they don't, we will make any outstanding choices unsuccessful on their behalf.
8 June 2010	If we receive all decisions from their universities/colleges by 7 May, the applicant needs to reply to any offers by this date (unless they are applying through Extra). If we don't receive their replies, we will decline the offers on their behalf.
30 June 2010	If an applicant sends their application to us by this date, we will send it to their chosen universities and colleges. If we receive their application after this date, it will be entered into Clearing. More about Clearing If we receive all decisions from their universities/colleges by 11 June, the applicant needs to reply to any offers by this date (unless they are applying through Extra). If we don't receive their replies, we will decline the offers on their behalf.
6 July 2010	This is the last date to apply through Extra.
20 July 2010	If an applicant applied by 30 June and is waiting for decisions, universities and colleges need to send us their decisions by this date. If they don't, we will make any outstanding choices unsuccessful on their behalf.
27 July 2010	If we receive all decisions from their universities/colleges by 20 July, the applicant needs to reply to any offers by this date (this includes if they are applying through Extra). If we don't receive their replies, we will decline the offers on their behalf.
5 August 2010	SQA results are published and the Scottish Clearing vacancy information service starts. More about Clearing
