Darren McMorran is an Outreach Officer at the University of East Anglia where he delivers a wide range of university workshops and talks to pre-16 and post-16 students in Norfolk and North Suffolk. He takes a lead on boys' issues in education and runs UEA’s Uni Boys programme which includes a skills project for Year 7 boys, creative writing workshops for boys and their parents/carers and coordinating in-school attainment and attendance raising projects in local schools. Darren takes an active role in a UK wide movement called Boys’ Impact and is chair of the East Anglia Boys’ Impact Hub which champions and supports the educational outcomes of boys and young men in the region through an evidence-based approach.
He attended teacher training at Carnegie College, Leeds, and graduated with a BEd (Hons) in Physical Education and Geography. Darren has 25 years’ teaching experience in primary, secondary and SEND schools. In his early teaching career, he taught in Glasgow, Birmingham and Kenya, and for the majority of his career, he worked in Suffolk schools.
