Dr Iwi Ugiagbe-Green

Institutional Strategic Lead for Differential Outcomes and Academic Director of STRIVE, Manchester Metropolitan University

Dr Iwi Ugiagbe-Green (she/her/they) has over 20 years’ experience of working in higher education and nearly 15 years’ experience of enhancing student opportunity, experience, outcomes and success in higher education through a wide variety of academic leadership roles.  
 
Iwi joined Manchester Metropolitan University as a Reader (Associate Professor) in 2021.  In 2023 became a Learning Enhancement and Education Development (LEED) institutional innovation scholar leading an institutional project on addressing differential outcomes. She is currently the institutional strategic lead for differential outcomes and Academic director of the award-winning student success programme, STRIVE, which she founded. 
 
Iwi was promoted to Professor of Equity in Education at Manchester Metropolitan University in September 2025.  She is a Principal Fellow of Advance HE and is also a National Teaching Fellow.  Iwi describes herself as an academic activist and anti-racism scholar.  In the last five years her research has focused on exploring intersectional race equity issues, within the context of student education, experience, transition, and progression to graduate labour market and postgraduate/doctoral study.
