Rekha Chabria

University Guidance Counsellor and Teacher of Spanish, Bombay International School

Rekha Chabria is a University Guidance Counsellor at Bombay International School in Mumbai, where she works closely with IB Diploma Programme students as they navigate the global university admissions process. Working in education since 2015 and part of the University Guidance Office since 2018, she has guided students pursuing higher education opportunities across the globe, including the USA, UK, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Korea and India.

Her counselling approach is rooted in the school’s “Best Fit” philosophy, encouraging students to look beyond rankings and focus on institutions where they can thrive academically, socially and personally. Students she has worked with have gone on to top institutions such as Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial in UK and also all leading universities in the United States and Europe, with a number of them securing full-ride merit-based scholarships.

Born in Spain, Rekha has a deep connection to Spanish language and culture. She also teaches Spanish at BIS. Her background in education and student mentorship informs her holistic approach to university guidance, where she encourages students to reflect on their interests, values and aspirations as they shape their higher education journey.

Rekha actively engages in the global counselling community and has participated in professional programmes including Global University Counsellor Connect (Singapore), UCAS Advisers Training, the Imperial College London Teacher Showcase and the International Guidance Counsellor Conference hosted by the University of Cambridge.
