Course summary
A BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance degree gives you the knowledge and skills you need to excel in a wide range of accountancy, business management and finance roles.
This course has been designed to incorporate internationally recognised skills from professional accounting and finance bodies, giving you a head start in qualifying as an accountant. You’ll learn essential theory through taught academic study, as well as practical training in the use of accounting software. You’ll also develop key analytical, report writing and further employability skills designed to help you to better adapt to the rapidly changing work environment.
All students have the opportunity to take an optional placement year, providing valuable workplace experience in an accounting or finance role to significantly improve your employability upon graduation. During your studies, you will have the opportunity to meet with accounting and business practitioners through guest lectures and other special events.

This provides enhanced employment opportunities in the financial sector, providing a fast route towards gaining a professional accountancy qualification. Specifically, through exemptions from Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) qualifications, Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), and Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
These accountancy qualifications are internationally recognised, giving successful students the opportunity to broaden their accounting careers on an international scale. Available to all new full-time undergraduate UK students joining the University in 2024/25 and 2025/26 academic years, the WLV Wallet bursary is made available for you to spend in a dedicated online store. Eligible students will receive £200 in their first year and £100 on successful enrolment onto the next level of their studies.
