Take the lead in shaping the future of our world with our MEng Civil Engineering with Industrial Year. Prepare for an exciting career as an engineer and open up a world of career opportunities, with real workplace experience.
You’ll learn how to design and build infrastructure like bridges, road links and buildings. Protect our communities from the impact of climate change with adaptive and resilient engineering, and become a leader in the industry. Spend a year working in industry to test-drive career options.
Combining state-of-the-art technology with fundamental engineering, this programme will develop your knowledge and skills to tackle global challenges. With a Design Centre and the Makerspace, you’ll be able to apply your new skills in practical facilities.
Enjoy working alongside students from other engineering disciplines, so you graduate with interdisciplinary experience. In your final year, you’ll deepen your knowledge with a project that can be linked to industry. Qualification requirements
UCAS Tariff - Not accepted
A level - AAA
A level Mathematics required.
General Studies or Critical Thinking not accepted. However, a good performance in one of these may be taken into account if you fail to meet the conditions of the offer.
Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)
Not considered unless A level Maths also taken.
International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 32 points
6,6,6 at Higher Level to include Mathematics with a minimum of 32 points overall.
Welsh Baccalaureate - Advanced Skills Challenge Certificate (last awarded Summer 2024)
Accepted in place of a non-required A level with the equivalent grade.
Cambridge International Pre-U Certificate - Principal
Accepted in place of A levels with the following grade equivalencies: D2 = A*; D3 = A; M2 = B. Combinations of A levels and Principle subjects are accepted. NB required subjects must be offered (see A level Section)
