Course summary

From biology to pharmacology, our extended pharmaceutical sciences degree gives you a broad knowledge of the subject. The course includes an extra year to prepare you for degree-level study.

This degree with a foundation year is designed for students who may not meet the standard entry requirements but have a strong interest in pharmaceutical sciences. The foundation year provides a solid grounding in core scientific principles, helping you build the knowledge and confidence needed to progress onto the full degree programme.

Once you move into the main degree, you’ll explore a wide range of subjects including biochemistry, biology, immunology, physiology, pharmacology, toxicology and drug design and delivery. You’ll also gain hands-on experience through laboratory work and an independent research project, developing both practical skills and scientific insight.

The course is accredited by the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences (APS), which confirms that it meets the high standards expected by the profession. This accreditation ensures that the curriculum and student experience are aligned with industry needs, preparing you for a successful and rewarding career in pharmaceutical sciences.
