This course offers practical skills underpinned by sound theoretical understanding in the analysis, design and development of computer-based systems; an understanding of the hardware, software and network infrastructure that supports them; fundamental insights into the contexts in which they arise and operate and an appreciation of the social, ethical and professional issues associated with their development and operation.
Taught modules (September - May) • Research & Professional Practice • IS Project Management Plus one optional module from below: • Digital Business Applications • IT Infrastructure and Management • Introduction to Business Intelligence • Management Concepts & Evaluation Techniques • Systematic Software Development Plus one optional module from below: • Engineering Software • Network Configuration and Management • Strategic IT Management Plus two optional modules from below: • Distributed Computer Systems • IT Systems Administration • Digital Content Management • Principles of Data Mining • Designing BI Systems • Information Management and Decision Support Systems • Social & Collaborative Computing • Web Services, Security & Management Project module (June - September) • Honours Informatics Project

Acceptable qualifications requirements:
HND in a relevant subject with at least 3 merit at level 5
