Are you self-aware, empathetic and patient? Join us to harness your strengths and meet the demand for mental health nurses as issues in this area skyrocket. You’ll become part of a community curious about how the mind works. As well as providing physical care, you’ll learn to create connections that help people on the road to recovery.

From year one of this programme, you’ll specialise in mental health nursing. We’ll unpick vital questions: How should we care for people with mental health issues? What’s the impact of substance misuse? Why is person-centred care important?

After you graduate, you’ll be able to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a mental health nurse. Our course follows the standards set by the NMC and also offers you option modules so you can explore specialist areas like mental health nursing of children and young people.

A level - BBC

Must include five GCSEs grade 4/C including English Language, Maths and Science. We can accept equivalent qualifications to meet GCSE requirements. Please note that A-level General Studies, Critical Thinking, Thinking Skills and Global Perspectives are not accepted by King's as one of your A levels.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)

Access to HE Diploma - D: 30 credits M: 9 credits P: 6 credits

The Access to Higher Education Diploma must be 60 credits in total. Access to HE Diploma in either Health & Social Care, Nursing and Midwifery, or Science. Numeracy/Literacy modules studied within an Access to HE diploma are not accepted for this programme to meet the GCSE/IGCSE requirements.

Scottish Higher - BBB

Must be combined with two Scottish Advanced Highers. We do not count the Higher and Advanced Higher in the same subject.

Scottish Advanced Higher - BC

Must be combined with three Scottish Highers. We do not count the Higher and Advanced Higher in the same subject. Applicants must offer either 5 subjects including Mathematics , English and Science at Credit Level Standard grades at 1 or 2/Intermediate 2 grade C, or recognised equivalent.

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 31 points

31 points overall or an aggregate score of 14 from three Higher Levels. Notes: The total point score of 31 includes TOK/EE. GCSE/IGCSE requirements can be met via IB Standard Level/Middle Years grade 4, if not studied/studying at Higher Level.

Leaving Certificate - Higher Level (Ireland) (first awarded in 2017) - H2, H3, H3, H3, H3, H3

Must include five GCSEs grade 4/C including English Language, Maths and Science. We can accept equivalent qualifications to meet GCSE requirements.

Leaving Certificate - Ordinary Level (Ireland) (first awarded in 2017) - Not accepted

Cambridge International Pre-U Certificate - Principal - M2, M2, M3

Please note that Global Perspectives is not accepted by King’s as one of your Pre-U Principal subjects. Combinations of Pre-U principal subjects and other qualifications (such as A-levels) will be considered. Must include five GCSEs grade C including English Language, Maths and Science. We can accept equivalent qualifications to meet GCSE requirements.

GCSE/National 4/National 5

All applicants must obtain or have obtained a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4/C or above including Science, English and Mathematics. We can accept equivalent qualifications to meet GCSE requirements.

OCR Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma - DMM

T Level - M

Merit overall and B in the Core Component in Health.

Required subjects: Five GCSEs grade 4/C including English Language, Maths and Science. We can accept equivalent qualifications to meet GCSE requirements.
