Lead the transformation of energy, healthcare and a wide range of global products with our MEng Chemical Engineering with Industrial Study at Birmingham. Strengthen your career prospects with a year working in industry and get ready to help engineer a more sustainable world.

You have the option to spend a year in industry at the end of your second or third year - we advise to complete the industry placement at the end of the second year. We have strong links with a large number of key companies to assist you, including Procter & Gamble, Unilever, BP, EDF, ConocoPhillips, PepsiCo, Jaguar/Land Rover, Cadbury, AstraZeneca, Johnson Matthey and GlaxoSmithKline as well as with smaller to medium enterprises.

From advanced heat and mass transfer to reactors, thermodynamics and low-carbon energy processing, join us to explore the world of chemical, product and energy engineering. Develop advanced technical, analytical and professional skills with real workplace experience so you’re ready for roles in various industries including healthcare, energy and finance.

Qualification requirements

UCAS Tariff - Not accepted

A level - A*AA - AAAA

A*AA / AAAA with A level Mathematics and either Chemistry or Physics required. General Studies, Critical Thinking and Use of Maths A Levels are not accepted.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)

BTEC only considered when combined with other qualifications.

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 32 points

7,6,6 at Higher Level including Mathematics either Chemistry or Physics required at Higher Level grade 6 with a minimum of 32 points overall. We will consider Standard Level Mathematics grade 7.

Welsh Baccalaureate - Advanced Skills Challenge Certificate (last awarded Summer 2024)

Accepted in place of a non-required A level with the equivalent grade.

Cambridge International Pre-U Certificate - Principal

Accepted in place of A levels with the following grade equivalencies: D2 = A*; D3 = A; M2 = B. Combinations of A levels and Principle subjects are accepted. NB required subjects must be offered (see A level Section)
