Immerse yourself in Bristol’s vibrant photography scene and learn from some of the field’s most acclaimed artists and practitioners. This degree, in collaboration directly with industry, offers an unparalleled opportunity to develop your craft alongside names like Magnum Photos and Sony, gaining experience in every facet of photographic practice–from commissioned assignments to exhibition and publishing.
You’ll dive deep into the art of visual storytelling, honing specialist skills in composition, lighting, portfolio and photobook production, as well as digital and darkroom printing. This hands-on course enables you to create stunning images from day one, working on client-driven projects and curating your own exhibitions. With a strong emphasis on co-creation and networking, you’ll graduate with the versatility, technical expertise, and industry connections needed to launch a rewarding career in photography.

Where you'll study
Photography students are taught in our new specialist photography centre in our Tobacco Factory campus. Students have access to a large ground floor studio for shooting and exhibitions, a digital print centre for museum-quality prints, books and portfolios and dedicated tutorial spaces for 1:1 support. The space includes a black and white and a colour darkroom, a light space for reviewing and refining work, as well as a full Mac Suite running Adobe and Capture One, allowing for experimentation with both traditional and alternative photographic practices.

On this course, from day one, you'll be creating incredible images. You'll work on projects for clients, create and curate your own exhibitions, as well as building the wider skills needed to launch a rewarding career in photography.

The following entry points are available for this course:
Entry to year 2 (Level 5) requires successful completion of 120 credits at Level 4 of a comparable undergraduate programme.
Entry to year 3 (Level 6) requires successful completion of 240 credits across Level 4 and 5 of a comparable undergraduate programme.
An interview will also be conducted to assess your suitability for the course.
Pass with 45 credits at Merit or higher.
A T Level qualification in Digital Production, Design and Development is preferred.
