Course summary
Study History with Education at Ulster University in the United Kingdom.
History at Ulster covers the period from the early modern era to the 20th Century. Students are given the opportunity to select from a diverse range of modules that cover Ireland, Britain, the Americas, and Europe. Political, social, economic and cultural history are given due weighting in the programme.
We find that students who are interested in teaching as a career may decide to add Education to their degree ‘mix’ at undergraduate level before applying for a Postgraduate Certificate in Education after they have completed their degree. Each Education module usually involves a two hour lecture plus a one hour seminar each week. In addition, students are required to undertake substantial directed independent learning.

Qualification requirements
A level - CCC
Applicants may satisfy the requirement for the final A level grade in the above grade profiles by substituting a combination of alternative qualifications to the same standard as defined by the University.
Preference may be given to applicants holding Grade C in History at A2.
Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) - MMM
If completing a QCF National Extended Diploma (2012) the requirements are DMM.
Access to HE Diploma - M: 45 credits

Applicants may satisfy the requirement for an element of the offer grade profiles (equating to the final A-level grade stated in the standard 3A level offer profile - Grade C) by substituting a combination of alternative qualifications to the same standard as defined by the University. Preference may be given to candidates with an A level Grade C or higher in History.
Scottish Advanced Higher - DDD
Applicants may satisfy the requirement for an element of the offer grade profiles (equating to the final A-level grade stated in the standard 3A level offer profile - Grade C) by substituting a combination of alternative qualifications to the same standard as defined by the University. Preference may be given to candidates with an A level Grade D or higher in History.
International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 24 points
To include 12 at higher level.
Leaving Certificate - Higher Level (Ireland) (first awarded in 2017)
96 UCAS tariff points to include a minimum of five subjects (four of which must be at higher level) to include English at H6 if studied at Higher level or O4 if studied at Ordinary Level.
Preference may be given to candidates with a H4 at higher level in History.
GCSE/National 4/National 5
For full-time study, you must satisfy the General Entrance Requirements for admission to a first degree course and hold a GCSE pass at Grade C/4 or above English Language.
Level 2 Certificate in Essential Skills - Communication will be accepted as equivalent to GCSE English.
English language requirements for international applicants
The minimum requirement for this course is Academic IELTS 6.0 with no band score less than 5.5. Trinity ISE: Pass at level III also meets this requirement for Tier 4 visa purposes.
Ulster recognises a number of other English language tests and comparable IELTS equivalent scores.
