The first year of the course introduces you to the fundamentals of filmmaking and screenwriting practice. It will help the development of your creative, critical and craft skills in preparation for progression to the 1st year of the BA (Hons) Screenwriting fast-track degree at Central Film School.
The BA (Hons) Screenwriting degree focuses on the fundamental skills needed for the pre-production, production, and post-production of a film, and the theory and practice that underpins the skill sets of professional filmmakers and writers.
Programme Overview

1 year full-time foundation year followed by a 2-year intensive fast-track programme including summer terms

High proportion of scheduled contact hours provides new writers with substantial one-to-one development time

Taught by working industry professionals, including script development executives from the British Film Institute, the Script Factory, BBC and a range of production companies.

Professional actors will stage much of the students’ work.

Progression: Students who graduate from this programme may pursue a career as Script Editor or Script Readers for film, TV, games, online content and print.

Access equipment and facilities outside of class time
Students work alongside our Practical Filmmaking students which creates exciting opportunities to see their scripts on film or to get involved in other areas of filmmaking outside of the set curriculum.
70% of Central Film School graduates go on to work and /or further study 15 months after the course.

We organise a series of events throughout the year where screen professionals tell their stories. In these sessions, a Guest Speaker is invited into the school to speak about their career and experience in the industry.
