Get ready to take your place in the future of construction. Our School for the Built Environment designed this course for candidates who want to make a start in the building industry but may not have the right entry requirements to apply directly to a three-year degree. We will help pave the way to your career in management and construction by first developing your study skills, problem-solving, and ability in applied mathematics and digital literacy. This degree also suits mature students who want to update and improve their existing knowledge and skills or who simply want an extra year of preparation.
We want you to succeed. Every aspect of this course is designed to give you an authentic learning experience by using real-life materials and scenarios. Your practical and academic programme of study will be led by a combination of leading academics and practitioners, who will help you to develop key academic skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, presentation and communication, digital literacy and application of mathematics, all within the context of the Built Environment discipline.

Assessment for your study may include coursework, examinations and written/practical tests. Your coursework types will be varied, including reports, essays, presentations and portfolios. Assessments for this course will be developed in line with the University tariff guidelines and policy.
