As the role of professional musicians continues to change and adapt, this Diploma in Community and Participation at RQF Level 7 offers an opportunity to learn and develop community music skills and knowledge to support a varied portfolio career in music. The deadline to apply for this course is 14 January 2026 18:00 UK time for your UCAS Conservatoires application and your Acceptd profile submission. You should include a spoken English introduction, CV and Personal Statement in your Acceptd profile.
This diploma enables you to gain a range of skills suited to a multitude of sectors, including health and wellbeing, schools and education, as well as gaining experience with people living with dementia and people with learning difficulties.
In your personal statement (c.500 words) please summarise your career to date, and explain your interest in taking this course and how it will support you in your future career. By applying for this course you will be consenting to the Academy running an Enhanced DBS check to ensure that you are suitable for working with young people and vulnerable adults. Acceptance on the course will be conditional on this being completed satisfactorily.
During the application and audition process, you must select which instrument(s) you wish to specialise in for the duration of your course. On this course, you can choose from the following options:
Only one specialism is studied. It may be possible to study a further instrument, but this will not contribute towards the qualification.
For all courses, you must select at least one specialism from the 'primary' list. For those studying primary/secondary pathways, two instruments may be selected – one from the 'primary' list and one from the 'secondary' list. Joint pathway students may select any two instruments from either list.

Evidence of professional work as a practising musician and a Master’s qualification or equivalent (in a relevant subject) but the Academy welcomes applications from students who may not meet the normal requirements (https://www.ram.ac.uk/study/entry-requirements).
