Course summary

This HNC is an engineering technician-level course with content similar to the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) syllabus for certifying aircraft mechanics within the aviation operations industry. You will study subjects including aerodynamics, aircraft propulsion systems and aircraft structures and materials.

Students will need Student Route visa sponsorship to study on the UK. Part-time study is not open to international students requiring Student Route visa sponsorship to study in the UK. International applicants must meet the IELTS entry criteria as well as meet the UKBA requirements.

Qualification requirements

A level - C

In Maths, Physics or Engineering Science PLUS English language at GCSE grade 4 or equivalent. Applicants with only one of Maths or Physics/Engineering Science at Advanced level require the other subject at GCSE grade 4 or equivalent

Scottish Higher - C

In Maths, Physics or Engineering Science PLUS English Nat 5 pass or equivalent. Applicants with only one of Maths or Physics/Engineering Science at Higher level require the other subject at Nat 5. Please note that Higher Applications of Maths is not accepted as an alternative to Higher Maths.

Scottish National Certificate - Pass

NC/NQ Engineering at level 6 or equivalent

GCSE/National 4/National 5

Plus English National 5 pass/GCSE grade 4 or above or equivalent.

Foundation Apprenticeship (SCQF Level 6) - Pass

in Engineering

International applicants must meet the IELTS entry criteria as well as meet the UKBA requirements.

UHI does not use Tariff points, and accepts a range of qualifications. Applicants with no formal qualifications but with relevant aircraft engineering experience will be considered individually.

Our programmes are taught and examined in English.
