With 10 on-site sports academies, you'll have plenty of chances to put your learning into practice. You’ll also have opportunities to gain hands-on experience with community sports clubs, schools, and physical activity organisations.
Our programme is designed to help you develop your own coaching style. Through a diverse range of modules, you’ll explore coaching theories, concepts, and practical applications, preparing you to work in both community and performance coaching settings.
Accreditation
As a CIMSPA-endorsed degree, our curriculum is underpinned by professional coaching standards, ensuring you graduate ready for a successful career in sports coaching.
Our modules are developed regularly to reflect student and industry demands, ensuring you’re well prepared to enter skilled employment on graduation. The majority of courses are comprised of both compulsory and optional modules, the latter of which you'll be able to choose from to suit your interests and career goals. Most courses also include work placement learning, to help you gain essential experience for your future.
Compulsory modules include: Coaching and Teaching Portfolio, Principles of Strength and Conditioning, Introduction to Exercise Physiology, Introduction to Sport and Exercise Psychology, Introduction to the Sport and Education Industries, Academic Skills for Sport and Exercise Scientists, Research and Data Skills in Sport, Pedagogy in Action 1, Developing the Professional Profile, Developing the Professional Profile, The Sport and Exercise Researcher, Coach Mentoring, Applied Coaching Concepts, Professional Development in Sport, Sport Research Project.

We have a strong global community, with students and staff from over 60 countries. Our dedicated International team will support you through every step of your university journey – from initial enquiry to enrolment and graduation. They’ll guide you through living and learning in the UK, making your application, visas, student finance, accommodation and much more. You’ll be welcomed to an International Orientation weekend, where they’ll arrange for you to be collected from your airport on arrival and support you to settle in to university life in your first term. In addition to the above, we require a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 9-4 (A*-C), to include English and Maths. We will consider equivalencies including but not limited to functional skills level 2, Irish Ordinary level, National 5s, IB standard level.
We will consider combinations of level three qualifications.
We welcome applications from individuals with equivalent, non-UK qualifications and mature students (over 21). We may interview as part of the application process.
