Course Overview
Enhance your songwriting skills, knowledge, and understanding with BIMM University's practical Cert HE course. This one-year course offers an exciting opportunity for musicians to delve into their craft through engaging lectures, workshops, and the creation of a comprehensive creative portfolio. Your portfolio will draw a real focus from the 'Adventures in Professional Practice' module that immerses you in real-world working practices and emphasises industry-like collaboration.
Songwriting pathway
The CERT-HE Songwriting pathway has been structured to cater to the ambitions of budding lyricists and composers, offering a foundational base for those targeting diverse careers. The curriculum provides essential songwriting methodologies whilst integrating music theory specifically designed for emerging songwriters, thereby facilitating a comprehensive grasp of both the artistic and scientific dimensions of song composition. Students are also exposed to a rich tapestry of styles and genres offering a comprehensive understanding of diverse cultural rhythms, melodies, and compositional structures in contemporary music creation, including the use of digital audio workstations.
While the course primarily caters to international students, we also welcome mature students who possess experiential ability, even without formal qualifications. The course presents the perfect avenue for creative practitioners to benefit from the BIMM University experience and networking opportunities while studying in the creative capital London.
