Course summary

Explore how computational systems can communicate, learn and reason, and understand the implications for society as a whole. Combine theory and practice to solve real-world problems in the ever-growing field of Artificial Intelligence.

This course produces multi-skilled, highly competent graduates who are equipped to become leaders in their career field and who understand the implications of their work both for themselves and for society as a whole. You will spend a year in industry, furthering your knowledge, networking and getting real-life experience.
Through the programme, you will study two integrated strands of work which help you to develop both your computational thinking and your skills as an engineer. It is the combination of these two areas that will make you attractive to employers, enabling you to make an immediate contribution when you move into employment.

UCAS Tariff - Not accepted

A level - AAA

If you are studying towards a fourth A level, we will make an alternative offer of AABB. Essential Subjects: Mathematics (or equivalent) at grade B is essential.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)

DDD + B at A Level Mathematics. We consider a range of BTEC qualifications equivalent to 3 A Levels, or in combination with A Levels or other qualifications. A Level in Mathematics (or equivalent qualification) at grade B is essential.

Access to HE Diploma - D: 39 credits M: 6 credits

We accept the Access to Higher Education Diploma. The syllabus must contain a significant portion of Mathematics that is considered equivalent to A Level standard. Applications will be considered on an individual basis - please contact the Department before you apply.

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 36 points

With 5 in Higher Level Mathematics (either Analysis and Approaches or Applications and Interpretations), or 6 in Standard Level Mathematics (Analysis and Approaches).

WJEC Level 3 Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales - A

We will consider this qualification alongside or in combination with A Levels or other qualifications, as equivalent to one A Level.

Extended Project - A

If you achieve A or higher at EPQ, you may be eligible for an alternative offer up to one A Level grade (or equivalent) below our typical offer.

OCR Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma

DDD + B in A Level Mathematics. We consider a range of OCR qualifications equivalent to 3 A Levels, or in combination with A Levels or other qualifications. A Level in Mathematics (or equivalent qualification) at grade B is essential.

T Level

We consider a range of T Level qualifications, in combination with an A Level in Mathematics (or equivalent qualification). Please contact us to discuss your qualifications.
