Course summary

The BSc (Hons) Computer Games (including Foundation Year) is a four-year degree.

You’ll build a strong foundation in the mechanics, concepts and techniques of computer games and in core computer science theory, preparing you to create new virtual worlds, characters and stories.

If you don’t yet meet the entry requirements for the three-year version, starting the course with a Foundation Year gives you a supported step up to university study.

WHY THIS COURSE

The BSc (Hons) Computer Games (including Foundation Year) gives you the skills and industry-standard techniques to design and implement your very own computer games, virtual reality training and gamification.

You’ll spend Year Zero on the Computer Science, Electronic Engineering and Mathematics Pathway, gaining an introduction to statistical analysis and modelling as well as computer programming. You'll then choose whether to progress to the BSc (Hons) Computer Science, BSc (Hons) Computer Games, BEng (Hons) Electronic Engineering or BSc (Hons) Mathematics.

From Year One of BSc (Hons) Computer Games, you’ll learn from active computer scientists and engineers whose work and teaching are driven by creativity and imagination as well as technical excellence.

By graduation, you’ll have the confidence to create the outline design specification for your own computer game – then implement it. You’ll also be ready to apply your knowledge of computer games and computer science to various sectors.
