Course summary

From the catwalk to the sports track, the fashion and apparel industry is advancing rapidly, embracing new styles, applications, tools, and technologies to bring about cutting-edge trends and innovations.

Expanding on Loughborough's world-renowned area of expertise in textiles and design, this exciting new programme sets out to develop your creative and design methodologies to enable you to formulate trailblazing silhouettes, concepts and manufacturing processes while evolving sustainable and ethical design strategies.

Modules

Modules will include garment construction, understanding the human form and the manipulation of fabrics and materials, advanced technical processes, specialist equipment and software and advanced design research methodologies A full list of indicative modules is available on the course page of our website.

Assessment method

Modules on this course are assessed through coursework, using a range of methods.

This is to encourage the development of a broadly relevant set of skills and competencies for use in industrial practice or further study. Methods include practical projects, industrial and self-generated project work, technical knowledge and training, development drawing, visual research skills, essays and reflective work, seminar participation, visual and verbal presentations, contextual research projects, workbooks and logbooks, technical files, and an industrial placement report and research report.

Welsh Baccalaureate - Advanced Skills Challenge Certificate (last awarded Summer 2024)

Applicants taking the Welsh Baccalaureate Advanced Diploma will be asked to achieve the A level requirements for their course as part of their qualification. Extended Project

We recognise the benefit of the Extended Project in developing independent research and critical thinking skills.
